Introduces students to the role of oral traditions in various cultural contexts. Special attention is placed on the process of meaning making and addressing ongoing cultural challenges through oral tradition.

This course equips students to understand oral traditions including folktales and proverbs in their cultural contexts. They will also learn to analyze aprropriation of oral traditions to contemporary contexts.
