MLV3400 Fresh Expressions in Mission
Educational Level: Upper undergraduate, Bachelor
Credit Hours: 3 Credits
If the world keeps changing, so must the church. This course is designed to equip those who have a creative heart and mind for the missional church with new contextual forms of ministry. Students will be informed and challenged to imagine and design a new fresh expression strategy to engage their particular community.
How This Course Benefits Students:
The world is rapidly changing and the church is creatively responding. This course will help students learn a creative process for listening to the needs of their ministry context and designing a fresh expression of church in their community. Students will be informed from the present contributions of the Anglican Fresh Expressions process as well as emerging church contributions such as missional communities, neo-monasticism and organic church strategies.
Why This Course Is Important:
Brian McLaren has stated: If you have a new world, you need a new church. Church leaders have the opportunity in todays church mission to use their creativity and imagination to design Gospel communities that are uniquely born to address their context. Students will be challenged to incarnate the Gospel through a receptor oriented missional strategy to create their own fresh expression of church.
