MIS4620 Sharing Your Faith with Hindu Friends

Course Overview

Educational Level: Upper undergraduate, Bachelor
Credit Hours: 3 Credits
Instructor: STAFF

Course Description:

Study of philosophy, methods and strategies for engaging friends from religious traditions and cultures of South Asia known as Hinduism. Includes an overview of the most common views of salvation and the nature of God in Indian culture.

How This Course Benefits Students:

Students who encounter individuals from the philosophic systems of India need to understand the ways that religious beliefs known as Hinduism are different from not only traditional Christian beliefs, but also from most world religions. Personal interaction amongst Hindus is encouraged in course assignments.

Why This Course Is Important:

Hinduism is not a single religion among the major world religions, but rather the name given to many religious traditions and cultures of South Asia. Students who work in Hindu cultures, or in Western settings which are increasingly influenced by Hindu culture, need a foundation in its common threads of belief. They also need specialized skills in sharing the Christian faith.
