PSY6310 Evaluation & Treatment of Special Offenders

This course introduces students to the assessment and treatment of special offenders and incorporates psychological, criminological, social and legal theoretical models used in understanding the various types of offenders. This course will also provide students with an overview of risk assessment and prevention models for treatment as well as empirically validated treatment for this population. Controversies regarding assessment and treatment of these offenders will be examined, as well as pertinent issues related to gender, age, and culture.
